Saw this today. Wish I’d got better pics.

You know what let’s zoom in

Kinja'd!!!

Full TRD body kit. Pretty dang low, and lots of negative camber, especially at the rear. And honestly o don’t hate it.

Honestly, there  have been much more terrible things that have happened to that gen Celica. I can’t endorse it but at least it’s still rolling.

Those were good looking little coupes in need of some additional go.

My personal thoughts. Toyota needed the 2ZZ to get a bump to 2L and Dual VVTL-i for 2003 for more power and emission compliance along with better suitibility for powering the Matrix XRS. When the RSX Type-S came out in 2002 it was a no brainer over the Celica GT-S.

Toyota wanted to kill off the sporty cars .

And then a few years later, Toyota did a complete about face, and now we’ve got the 86 and Supra, and to an extent, the Apex Edition Corolla and Camry TRD, with possibly more to come.

exactly - the Camry TRD is kinda weird looking to me, but is a top option for the class  and the new Corolla solidly competes with Mazda now. I really wish they would drop the corporate “droopy nose” styling, but their mainstream vehicles have come a long way.  It is interesting that so many big auto manufacturers are struggling with front end styling - Toyota, BMW, GM with their trucks, etc.

Well back 15 years ago everyone whined and complained about Toyota and Lexus having boring styling so then they both over compensated and here we are today. I remember the first predator grill and I had real thoughts of “reap what you sow”. I t wasn’t pretty but it was the opposite of boring at the time.
